The reasons of this conflict are to be rendered to the U.S.A. foreign policy, which tends, in every possible way, to struggle Russia by expanding and establishing their NATO alliances and their friendly and faithful leaders (like Saakasvili) in the vicinity of Russia, causing (for the moment) trouble to it, like the South Ossetia issue, and simultaneously accepting on their soil the establishment of U.S.A. missiles targeting Russia (As Poland already did, and Ukraine is about to do).

Georgia, especially under the present regime and government is an instrument for this purpose.

The Georgian President miscalculated the circumstances, and urged himself to attack Ossetia, believing that the U.S.A. would promptly and immediately support him.

At the same time he had almost all the western media on his side, distorting the truth and painting a devil's image for Russia and a martyr's one for Georgia.

In conclusion, Georgia massacred South Ossetians (who are not Georgians but of Russian origin and culture), provoking thus Russia to intervene and protect them, protecting its boarders as well.

Persuant to the Sarkozy peace plan withdrew their troops from Georgia, leaving behind some Russian U.N. sondiers to safequard the security of S. Ossetians and to prevent Georgia from committing provocative actions.

But it's time that the U.S.A. revise their foreign policy, and stop intervening everywhere in the wold, feeding the weapon industry and safeguarding the interests of the multinational companies.

They also must take a look at their internal affairs, as the american economy is falling apart, and American citizens finance wars and conflicts that their goverment decides to perform, under the cover and excuse of "democracy", "freedom", and "Justice".

Um if you guys didn't know, it comes down to this. OIL>. There is oil in Abazia and Georgia wants it. Russia knows this too. Of course I believe Georgian president instigated this war, trying to make the rest of the world believe Russia attacked Georgia. The whole world now knows that there is oil to be found "in them dere hills" northwest of Georgia. I wouldn't be surprised if Russia tries to completely invade Georgia. But one thing for sure, Ukraine will be part of NATO one day. And it will be a sad day for both sides...to fear one another and plot against each other. It is a royal MESS!!! Why can't we all get along? US need to worry about its economy, not Georgian president who cries "WOLF"!!! Poka!:)

Let's just put it this way: Georgia attacked Southern Ossetia first, killed 1,400+ non-combatants, and 3 Russian troops at a peacekeeping post. Russia did not engage in combat until three days after Georgia invaded S. Ossetia. Also, prior to sending troops, a request from the Russian side was sent to U.N. asking to do something about Georgia.

You tell me who the bad guy is in this case.

PS. Nothing against anyone from Georgia (except Saakashvili).

If you still read CNN propoganda, why do you even bother ask our (Russians') opinion?

Russia did not do anything wrong. Georgia attacked South Ossetia, Russia defended it. After the Georgian attack, Tskhinvali was in ruins. Basically it didn't exist, just like Stalingrad didn't exist after WWII.

The US quickly jumped to offer humanitarian help to Georgia (on NATO military ships??Humanitarian help?huh?). They also promised Georgia a billion bucks. The EU also is willing to help Georgia, although the EU has already acknowledged that Saakashvili's complaints of Russian bombings have been exagerated.

Yet the EU was reluctant to help South Ossetia. It was Russia only that rebuilt Tskhinvali's schools and hospitals. It was Russia that has been helping the people, giving them shelter, giving them food, giving them everything. There were people who lost everyhting. A Jewish neighbourhood has been destroyed entirely.

Where on earth is Russia's fault in helping those under attack?

Georgia started the fight and expected America to come to their aid. What they don't realize is, you don't pick a fight with someone bigger than you hoping your big friend will come fight on your behalf. It didn't work the way Geogia had hoped, and Russia taught them a rightful lesson.

USA has little to do with this. The obsession between who's stronger, USA or Russia is a one way street, Americans don't care about Russia any more than say Thailand.

GEORGIA'S FAULT

GEORGIA IS EYEING ABKASIA AS WELL

RUSSIA DID NOT START RUSSIAN- GEORGIAN WAR.

THEY NEVER INVADED GEORGIA BUT GAVE GEORGIA FREEDOM WHEN THE USSR . RECOGNIZED INDEPENDENT COUNTRIES. AS THEY DID OSSETIA

NOW GEORGIA WANTS OSSETIA THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO GEORGIA AND NEVER DID. THUS THE NAME OSSETIA ( FROM IONS AGO)

RUSSIA HELPED OSSETIA WHEN ASKED AND HAD PEACEKEEPING TROOPS IN OSSETIA.

.. Russia did not invade Georgia but is helping Ossetia

FOR 16 years from 1962 OSSETIA ( HAS FOUGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE AND THREE TIMES WAS NOT RECOGNIZED ( FOR POLITICAL REASONS NO ONE LISTENED BUT THEY SURE ARE NOW/

DE FACTO FOR 16 YEARS.. ( DID NOT LIKE GEORGIA TO SEIZE CONTROL OF OSSETIA THE SOVEREIGN NATION

The immediate focus of the fighting is the atempt by Georgia to militarily seize control of the enclave of South Ossetia, which has

existed as a de facto independent entity for the past 16 years, and Russia’s armed intervention to counter this assault.

NOT ONCE BUT THREE TIMES OSSETIA DECLARED INDEPENDENCE

A few years after the fall, Ossetia declared independence, which was not recognized by Georgia. .

digg.com/world_news/In_Pictures_Russia...

..

YES OSSETIA AND GEORGIA WERE PART OF THE USSR.

PREVIOUSLY.. ( USSR) AND BOTH GOT THEIR INDEPENDENCE WHEN THE UNION DISENTEGRATED ( VERY FAIR)

GEORGIAS / FAULT ( FROM WAY BACK ) WANTED OSSENTIA AND

IS IT NOT FAIR TO PROTECT OSSETIA INDEPENDENCE WHEN RUSSIA ( WAS ASKED ( CLOSE TIES STILL)

RUSSIA IS FAIR/ RICH / AND POWERFUL/ AND PROTECTING OSSETIA ( AGAINST INVADERS)

GEORGIA SHOULD HONOUR INDEPENENCE OF TERRITORY AS RUSSIA DOES
